Choosing the right court has a major impact on how well Wingfield works for you. This article helps you make a strategic decision before you get into mounting details. It's aimed at operators, clubs, and facilities looking to equip one or more courts with Wingfield.
1. What's the goal/main usage of your court?
Before picking a court, ask yourself: How is this court mainly used? That determines which Wingfield product makes sense.

💡 Tip: Not sure where to start? Begin with your training court. Once Wingfield is firmly built into training, it quickly becomes routine – even outside training hours.
☝🏻 By the way: A court can serve multiple roles (e.g. training during the day, social play in the evening). In that case, weigh which use case is dominant, or whether an AI Pro setup pays off long-term for the other use cases too.
2. What mounting options do you have?
There are currently four standard ways to mount the Court Terminal, the Streaming Cameras and Dual Track Cameras (only relevant for Wingfield AI Pro setups).

💡 Tip: Check first whether wall or fence mounting is possible at your facility before installing a pole.
3. Ensure a clear field of view (Wingfield AI Pro)
For AI Pro, an unobstructed field of view across the entire court is essential – the cameras need to capture the full playing area without interruption.
Watch out for:
- ✖️ No pillars, columns, or net structures within the cameras' field of view
- ✖️ No spectator or standing areas that permanently block the view
- ✖️ Enough clearance from indoor hall walls or overhangs
⚠️ Caution: A limited field of view noticeably affects Wingfield AI Pro's tracking quality. Check the sightlines from every planned camera position before finalizing your court choice.
4. Are power & internet available?
For your court to run smoothly, you need a stable power and internet connection right at the location. It's worth thinking about both while choosing your court, to avoid extra costs for cabling or network equipment later on.

✔ Power: If you don't want to install new sockets or run long cables, make sure a power socket is available close to the court.

✔ Internet: Since video data is uploaded, we recommend an upload speed of at least 5 Mbps. If you plan to run the system over Wi-Fi, the court should be close to your router or access point – test the speed directly on the court. For a more stable and reliable connection, we generally recommend LAN.
💡 Tip: Test an existing connection's speed directly on the chosen court at www.speedtest.net – especially important for Wi-Fi signals.
5. What should you watch out for with lighting conditions?
- ✖️ Avoid strong backlighting: The sun shouldn't shine directly into the cameras for most of the day.
- ✖️ Avoid heavily shaded courts: Shade or backlighting can affect the Streaming Camera's image quality.
- ✖️ Also relevant indoors: Large windows should ideally sit behind the Wingfield camera, not in front of it.
